About Retoy

We play our way to a better world!

With Retoy – the next generation of changemakers get to meet and act environmentally friendly in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by swapping, creating and giving toys together with other children.

By doing so, not only do they get to learn more about their rights but also get a fun and playful introduction to circular consumption.

Retoy’s vision is a loving world in which adults and children live in harmony with each other, with nature and with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We want to remind all children that they are citizens of the world and can be a part of playing their way to a better world!

Retoy’s fundamental values

Loving presence: Through play we convey the message that everyone needs presence, inclusion, development, love, and freedom.

Playful action: Playing makes everything possible! We create meeting places where children can play while learning about what unites them: their rights and their environment. Through play, they have the opportunity to be the changemakers.

Glocal empathy: We remind children that they are citizens of the world and emphasise how everything is mutually interdependent. Together, we can create a loving world by highlighting the relationship in-between ourselves and between us and nature – both globally and locally.

Why do we play?

Join the teddy and the train for an adventure to see where toys come from and why it’s important we take care of them:

Since Retoy started in 2011 over…

  • 530 000 children

have played with us and learnt more about their rights and the environment,

  • 30 000 children

have swapped and given away more than...

  • 100 000 toys

and by swapping instead of buying new ones have saved the environment of almost 300tn of CO2 emissions!

Retoy’s aim is to always play in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Therefore, all of our activities are created together with children. To be able to offer free activities for all children it is important that we play together. Thanks to our collaborations and amazing volunteers we can continue to create meeting places where children get to play their way towards a better world!
